Welcome to NoteVault ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our service, including our integration with Notion.

By using NoteVault, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Personal Information

When you register for NoteVault, we collect:

  • Username and email address
  • Password (encrypted and securely stored)
  • Profile information you choose to provide

2.2 Notion Integration Data

When you connect your Notion workspace to NoteVault, we collect:

  • Notion workspace ID and name
  • OAuth access tokens (encrypted and securely stored)
  • Content from Notion pages you choose to import
  • Page metadata (titles, icons, last edited time)
  • Information about which pages you've shared with NoteVault

2.3 Usage Data

We automatically collect:

  • Log data (IP address, browser type, pages visited)
  • Device information
  • Study session data and analytics
  • Interaction with notes and study rooms

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for:

  • Service Provision: To provide and maintain NoteVault features
  • Notion Integration: To import, sync, and display your Notion content
  • Personalization: To customize your experience and provide relevant recommendations
  • Communication: To send you updates, notifications, and support messages
  • Analytics: To understand how users interact with our service and improve features
  • Security: To detect, prevent, and address technical issues and fraudulent activity

4. Notion Integration

4.1 What We Access

When you connect your Notion workspace, we only access pages and databases that you explicitly grant permission to. We do not access any other content in your Notion workspace.

4.2 How We Use Notion Data

  • Import content you select into NoteVault
  • Convert Notion blocks to markdown format
  • Store imported content in our database
  • Display your Notion pages within NoteVault
  • Enable sharing with study groups (if you choose)

4.3 Revoking Access

You can disconnect your Notion workspace at any time from the Notion Settings page. This will:

  • Remove the OAuth connection
  • Delete stored access tokens
  • Stop any future syncing
  • Note: Previously imported content will remain in NoteVault unless you delete it manually

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:

5.1 With Your Consent

When you choose to share notes or join study groups, your content becomes visible to other users as per your sharing settings.

5.2 Service Providers

We may share data with third-party service providers who help us operate our service:

  • Cloud hosting providers (AWS, MongoDB)
  • Analytics services
  • Payment processors

5.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid legal requests.
